I used them all last night.
Shot these from the Illinois side of the river so I could get some good city shots with the Arch in it.
Here are a few - let me know what you think.
This kind of shooting was alot of fun - and much harder than I thought it click at this page be to get a gook "look" to the fireworks.
These were all shot with my 30d and EFS 17-55 f2.
Before the fireworks began - those bright lights are from the Cardinal Stadium where the baseball game are betaland casino pity in progress.
The rest of the shots are in my gallery here - thanks for looking.
Hope you had a nice holiday!
I live 85 miles south of the great arch and thought about going there for what you did with the 30D and my 17-40.
I'll stop casino specials airy mt your sight if you dont mind and steal your camera settings if you don't mind.
The only thing that would have made these shots better IMO is if you could have been more down stream to get the fireworks align with the arch.
Where were you standing?
I used to work for a trucking company, Beelmans, which has a river terminal on the east side somewhere in the area you where at.
I think there is a casino parking lot that is almost straight across from the arch if i'm not mistaken.
Still very nice capture captures.
I was wondering you focus method.
If you want more practice there is a great show up at Alton tomorrow night.
We usually sit on the Missouri side of the river with the Lewis and Clark bridge and Alton in the background.
The show starts at nine but you need to get there early or the parking lot will be closed.
Let me know if you want better directions to find the location I am talking about.
The only draw back is that it does take awhile to leave but then you are sitting right by the river and no matter how hot it is we have always found it very comfortable.

I did a quick search on the forum before I went and found several helpful posts from members about the settings to use.
I pretty much casino queen fireworks put the camera into Manual, Bulb, ISO 200, and F11 - then used the remote to capture the shots as the fireworks went off.
The best ones were in the 2 - 4 seconds I casino queen fireworks />The longer exposures just had too much in them and were more blown and blurry I am afraid.

A friend had passes and invited me to come along.
I was on the top observation deck.
So getting lined up perfectly was hard.

I know that the sunsets up there are fantastic.
We usually are on the Missouri side of the river on the north side of the bridge.
There is a boat lauch there and a pretty big parking lot.
It does fill up early so you do need to arrive early--we usually take a picnic and make and evening of it.
There is a fair going on in Alton check out the Alton visitor site for info.
You can also find great places south of the bridge.
The fireworks the past three years have been lauched from a little strip of land on the Missouri side not too far from the parking lot I am talking about.
I have used my Sigma 15-30 since we are pretty close.
The show is tomorrow night July 3.
In the past the show has been very good.
I especially like the fact that we can get pretty close.
Let me know if you are planning on going.
Thanks for the info - I have to work on Monday : I will try to make it up there anyway.
I will probably decide that when I get home and see what's up with everyone.
